TeamRoaster ("we", "us") is a sports banter platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights. By using TeamRoaster you agree to this policy and our Terms of Use.

Data we collect

• Username & roasts — display name and 160-character content you voluntarily submit.
• Anonymous ID — a browser-generated identifier stored locally to prevent duplicate votes.
• Preferences — flair, roast level, sound settings, and onboarding state stored in your browser.
• Technical data — IP address (for rate limiting), user agent, and timestamps on server requests.

How we use your data

• Display roasts, leaderboards, and polls on the platform
• Prevent spam and abuse through rate limiting
• Moderate content for profanity and community standards

Third-party services

We share data with these providers only as needed to operate the service:

• Football Data API — match fixtures (no personal data sent)
• PostgreSQL hosting — roast and user stats storage
• Upstash Redis — caching and rate limiting
• Cloudflare — hosting and CDN

Data retention

Roasts and votes are kept while the service operates. You may request deletion of your roasts by contacting us. Local browser data can be cleared anytime via Your Data settings. Rate-limit logs in Redis expire automatically.

Your rights

Depending on your region, you may have the right to:

• Access data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your content
• Object to processing or withdraw consent for non-essential cookies
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Children

TeamRoaster is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted content, contact us for removal.

Security

We use HTTPS, rate limiting, content moderation, and secure environment variables. No system is 100% secure — use a pseudonym if you prefer not to share your real name.
